For the last eight years I have been researching CEBS – the Church of England Boy’s Society.
I have studied the history, structure, leadership, and the experiences of past members and their families. Over this time I have conducted interviews with a large number of people who had involvement in the Society, in particular any members who were victims of sexual abuse during their involvement.
Recently, I have compiled the findings of this research into book format, which I hope to publish soon.
My main aim is to provide some personal accounts from willing victims, in the hope that reading these stories will be of comfort to other victims by helping them understand that they were not alone, rather they were manipulated by a group of very cunning and sophisticated network of men who used the society to to procure and abuse boys, and also communicate grooming methods, techniques, and personal information about the boys with each other.
I also hope that these stories will promote understanding for the victims families and their loved ones, so that they may better provide support and care. It should also be of comfort to these secondary victims who also often fell prey and were groomed as part of this process as well.
I shall also include a history and description of the society and the structures within it that made it so easy for so many of these predators to remain undetected over such a long period of time.
I will cover the responses of the various church Diocese and review the avenues of ‘justice’ including reporting to the Police and the long and complicated processes involved in the legal proceedings.
A section of the repercussions and effects of the abuse is then presented, followed by an account of what changes have (or haven’t) occurred within the Church, including considering the current attitude towards victims.
Over the years, I have collected a large collection of memorabilia, including many documents such as Newsletters and other information that provides many useful names, dates and locations. Gradually I intend to post this information on this page so that it is available to any person who is interested in ‘filling in the gaps’ of their memories for both personal healing and also to provide evidence for the purpose of any legal proceedings.
I would love to hear from any person, who had involvement with the Society at any level, or in any capacity. I would also appreciate any further donations of memorabilia or photographs etc that may help put together any pieces of this puzzle. Where I can, I am also happy to provide support to any person in need of a listening ear, information, or even to make contact with another past member has experienced similar abuse for support or advice.

I would love to hear from both victims or non-victims

It is unfortunate when the victim goes to court and the defendant claims he wasnt there at that time, because he couldnt be a junior leader then, However i have no doubt he volunteered to help till he became the age of 16. With no available evidence to prove beyond reasonable doubt, the perpertrator has had the charges dismissed. There is no doubt in my mind of his guilt however as he has plead guilty to molestation a couple of years earlier, he has offended against family members and I am sure there are other cebs victims out there of his. So frustrating.
